Board Game Blog Goals

Under Falling Skies

I have several board game blog goals in mind when creating this website.

Defining my Purpose for a Board Game Blog

I’ve had so many ideas on how to share my love for board games that it will be helpful to write the most important down. This page will clarify these goals for readers. A side benefit for myself will be that I can always look back and reference this page and keep my priorities straight.

Sharing Love of Board Games with Community

First and foremost, I want to talk about my favorite hobby – board games. Hopefully, my enthusiasm will be shared with other fellow board game enthusiasts. It also may pique interest from people outside the hobby. Participating in the board game community and doing my part in contributing hype and helpful information is the main goal for this blog. I already love the board game community on BGG and Reddit and hope to give back to those communities.

Blog Goal – Writing

My preferred method of communication is through writing. I’ll never be a best-selling author, but I still like to put my thoughts into words and share those thoughts with people. As I talk about board games, there will be plenty of reviews. I do have my favorite mechanisms and themes, so there will always be a bit of personal bias in board game reviews, but I also have an open mind. I’ll do my best to describe board games in a way that will let you be better informed whether a particular board game will be up your alley.

Blog Goal – Photography

A previous bucket list goal in my life has been photography. When I was living up in the beautiful Colorado mountains, I spent an entire weekend staying in a cabin with a DSLR camera and a Bryan Peterson book “Understanding Exposure.” This knowledge has helped me take unique family portraits on stunning mountain properties. While portrait photography has been fun, I have to admit I’m an introvert. Spending my time framing up the perfect board game photos with just the proper lighting is so much more rewarding for me.

I intend to keep practicing and improving my photography skills. Imagery will be one of the significant aspects of this board game website, providing you with an excellent visual of what a game looks like on the table and showing off the board game designer’s vision.

Programming

I’m a total nerd. It must be built so firmly into my persona to help others via technology, as I have worked on bringing people together via communities all my adult life. My career was web programming, and I enjoy using online communities via blogs, forums, websites, and Discord, to provide information and entertainment for thousands of people. With this blog, I can continue my web programming skills and keep them fresh.

Board Game Bling

As I got deeper into the hobby of board games, I discovered that other board game addicts created handy inserts to organize better games. Some made unique upgrades from the cardboard tokens and chits—some designed beautiful tokens and components to further immerse into the themes.

I’d love to share my appreciation of these artists and designers who also contribute to the board game community with their board game bling!

Bling My Games – Board Game Blog Goals

So there you have it! These are my early 2022 goals and aspirations for this blog! With these board game blog goals clearly in mind, I hope to bring the world some board game joy.
